Have you lost it? Or do you still have it?

perspctive
Well there’s so much that we are attached to in this world, and we feel we possess, so this question can have a pretty speckled answer. There are numerous things we feel we should retain to ease our existence. Things that seem fundamental to us. Things that are indispensable for us. And then, in reality, some of these things include those we are not even be aware of. We fail to realize that we are chasing objects that are not essential for subsistence; while we have lost the pearls that are imperative for happiness and contentment. Common nouns and proper nouns have taken precedence over abstract nouns...
What on this planet is indispensable?
From one standpoint, everything is dispensable. Actualized souls have no materialistic needs. In Maslow’s hierarchy, they are at the top of the pyramid and are above food, clothing, shelter, relationships, madness, desire and attachment that come alongside these. At the same time the pyramid distorts itself sporadically and even topples over; making us realize the dearth of basic needs when we regress and touch the lows of life. We need our basic needs fulfilled to be able to rise to the level of actualization that allows us to introspect and attain greater heights within ourselves. A time when we raise the self above the self. Until then we cling on to the miniscule worldly objects of our desire; and rightly so, at that time all these seem central to our existence.
Perspective is indispensable
When you wear red sunglasses the whole world turns red in an instant. We color our house walls in our favorite shade because we like seeing them that way. We put before ourselves what we want to see. Some of us carry the pictures of our loved ones in our wallets (or I-pads, I-pods and I-phones today).  Appeasing our perceptions has become of utmost important. So why not learn to see differently. Once we do so, the world becomes altered (even though nothing changes). Wearing red sunglasses was not such a bad idea then was it?
What happens when you lose perspective?
You cease to know why you exist. The prime purpose of life is to find purpose in life. When you eat your favorite dish uncontrollably in a bulimic fashion, there is no pleasure left in it. The only emotion probably persisting is that of guilt. You were thrown into the world without your own permission. You did NOTHING to be here. Yet, you ARE here. So you need to find out why. We are not machines. Sleep-wakeup-eat-work-sleep-reproduce-eat-sleep-die. Something is amiss. Something that makes you unique. Something that makes you distinctive. And something that offers a new sentiment to you. So you sense it. And continue to feel. When you stop feeling; you cease to exist. That's what makes you different from a table or a chair. They have one sole purpose and for generations, we sit AT tables and we sit ON chairs. Sometimes even those are better than us because they have purpose and we don't!
Go find it!
That’s the spirit. No you don't have to go an expedition in the jungle to find perspective. It’s right there in front of you; you just seem to have lost the ability to see it. See purpose in tasks while you do them. That’s perspective. When you take your family on vacation, its not a routine or duty or responsibility to do so. Enjoy the moment and allow yourself to feel a new love, new passion and new desire for doting on your loved ones. When you work, don't do so because you need the money; do it because you enjoy the work and find pleasure in offering to this world (in which you by the way came without even asking for it). Smile because you feel it, not because its customary or polite to. When you do so, you will feel enriched because you have what a lot of people in this sphere don't. You will see yourself luckier than most around.

You will be richer than most because now YOU HAVE IT!
