SELFISH-ness (2)

Will to know
There is much fuss over the ‘self’. The self is vital. Charity begins at home; a sound mind in a sound body builds sound relationships, democracy involves actions of the self for the self by the self. The bewildered self has little to offer to the sphere. Yet the concept of self needs loftier understanding than mere self-centeredness. An actualized individual helps oneself and those around. That’s superior cognizance. Few have the ability, lesser still have the will to introspect and discover their own potential. Others hunt for their identities while life passes them by. These selfish people are:

my way only
Self-centered
Egotistical
Loathing
Fatuous
Insensitive
Subjective
Hard hearted

Fatuous
Fools rush in where angels fear to tread. The enlightened souls find bliss in oblivion; however the incessant focus on their inner potency makes them superior. Emphasis on personal appearances, material treasures and physical abilities are thoughts and actions of the foolish. All that is worthy essentially reveals itself. What is not, is not worth bragging about to the world anyways. The discreet do not see the need to voice their achievements and capacities. Like sunlight, that silently penetrates most façades; yet one needn’t mention its prowess; but continue to regard the sun to be the progenitor of life and energy. One must have one’s presence felt by offering to the world; not dwelling in superiority, imposing opinions and building foes owing to selfishness.
Insensitive
Plants too have been known to flourish and blossom when kind words are spoken whilst watering them. Humans (evidently so) have highest evolution in emotionality and need more than that to survive and thrive.  Perception is the first stage in sensory processing. One an emotion is perceived rightly, it generates the suitable thought, which arouses the apposite emotion and directs appropriate behavior. A misperception (or no perception at all sometimes) of emotions of another disallows proper receptivity and makes one insensitive. The selfish cannot perceive emotions. They parenthetically are unaware of their own feeling too. If they knew their own pain, they wouldn't inflict it on others. They need to sort their emotional understanding as well as responsiveness in order to look beyond oneself and empathize with those around. Perceptions differ and intensities vary; however pleasure and pain are well identifiable constructs; it is considerate to be sensitive to the agony of those around.
Subjective
The presumably know-it-all selfish personalities fail to fathom the viewpoint of another. They live in their isolated fizz that effervesces in no time and their world suddenly ceases to exist in the context of true actuality. A fantasy subsistence where what they say and believe is the only way. It is imperative to zoom out and see the picture from a distance to appreciate the impact it has on others, not just on the self. Also zooming out diminishes the importance of the self in the larger picture and prompts modesty. Subjectivity always creates aggrandizement and roots misfortune. The earth rotates around its own axis; the selfish believe it is around them! The world’s population is over 7 billion. Each one of us is insignificant, our views trivial, our troubles petty and our beliefs inconsequential unless they make an impact on those around us. If we have it in us, we should let the world see it. Merit that is worthy ought to be credited in the real world; not merely in an imaginary frontage.
Hard hearted
Those who embrace themselves have no room to clasp others. The brutal and cold don't serve as good friends or bosses or life partners least of all good human beings. It is not OK to overlook how others feel. Selfishness and arrogance are often misconstrued as supremacy; thus self-priority gets vindicated. The realized ones understand that suppleness is not synonymous with feebleness. Those habituated to self-involvement gradually become impervious to the needs of others; hard heartedness wasn't intended but became an outcome. It is really not sinful to be love yourself; it is a harsh world and there are vultures on the prowl. However the true leader isn’t one who promulgates himself to get a band of followers. Supporters choose their leader. And typically this would be one who is empathic to their needs and opinions. No one elects a self-propagating dictator. Don't attempt to become one! The world may be selfish, however it’s still worthwhile to give it, and yourself a better chance…
