Fatigue is one of the MOST subjective of emotions
and perceptions. And no matter what, it is incapacitating. It has both
physiological and psychological constituents that allow the sufferer to
perceive a reduction in drive, ability as well as performance. The horse when
whipped begins to gallop; and cows, donkeys, goats and sheep are compelled to exert
(at anything at all) when pushed. That however does not assure their drive and
ability to excel. They must perform out of sheer force. Higher cognitive
abilities necessitate focus and energy; these are less likely to be engendered
by a drained mind.
Human beings have endured slavery in a previous
era. Today they choose to impinge it upon themselves. That does not make fatigue conquerable. The body needs its share of
nurturance to replenish its lost energies in every dimension of existence.
Compassion and dedication towards work and spouse and friends is hypocrisy if the
self is forever neglected. Charity begins at home!
Mind over matter
The mind is indeed more resilient than the sturdiest
physique. It is the model of one’s universe, in one’s own hands. We all rule our
personal worlds; each is a king of his own intellect. We decide what we want to
do and go ahead and do it. We endure quandaries and believe we can surpass
them. Each one has the power to use the mind over matter; some however may
misuse and abuse it. The mind deserves it share of care.
Free will
Everyone has the will. When we feel strong,
we fight. But when we feel weak, we need to let go. One cannot feel what they
don't want to. No one ‘makes’ anyone feel strong or sad or bad or small. ‘You’
feel. It’s your mind. It’s time to introspect and gain insight into who we
really are, what we truly want to be, where we undoubtedly are headed; and
realistically, how are we going to get there? Minding the mind is the first
step towards conquest over matter.
Knowledge is bliss
No, ignorance is NOT bliss, knowledge truly
is. The human potential to excel is limitless. The brain has millions of
neuronal connections that frequently remain untouched throughout one’s
lifetime; often labeled as a waste of conceivable talent. Needless to say, boredom,
tiredness, weariness and exhaustion should not be excuses. The human brain IS
capable of driving the body to extremes and still surviving and replenishing
its prowess; it still deserves its 6 to 8 hours of respite to replenish all
that it has been drained of. A little break, a bit of exercise, little recreation, some hobbies; don't really hurt anyone.
Make up your mind
If you make up your mind, there’s little
that demotivates you from your goals. Of course life is not a bed of roses
and obstacles are inevitable. The human mind is capable of brainstorming and
reappraising situations and opportunities to use them to personal advantage. You
have it in you; you realize it, and utilize it. But at another extreme you
abuse it. Make up your mind to do the right thing and love yourself just a
little more than you already do. Listen to your muscles (when they cry in pain)
your eyes (when they suddenly droop), your mind (when it chooses to cloud) and
your brain (when it’s ready to shut down). There’s no one more important on the
planet than you…
